Called " 2009 Meth Watch Presentation "
The Washington Meth Watch Program is a collaborative initiative, modeled after the Kansas State Meth Watch Program, which originated in Spokane County with the Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council (GSSAC) and the Spokane County Meth Action Team. Meth Watch was originally started in Washington State to combat Meth manufacturing. Meth Watch developed strong partnerships with the retail community to make the theft or purchase of precursor products more difficult. This partnership was very successful and has drastically helped bring down the numbers of Meth labs in our state.
The Washington State Meth Watch Program has been modified to keep up with changing trends in substance abuse in our state. Recently, the Washington State Rx Watch Program was added to combat the increase in prescription drug abuse. This is a companion program to our original Meth Watch Community Presentation. The format of the WA Rx Watch presentation has been replicated from our successful Meth Watch Presentation. Both programs currently offer a four hour Train the Trainer course that is designed to train community members on how to conduct prevention/awareness presentations.
